Temple of the Tooth

 The temple of the sacref Tooth Relic or Sri Dalada Maligawa.is buddhist temple in kandy, Sri Lanka.

It is located in the royal palace complex of the fomer kindom od kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the buddha.

Kandy Perahara

The kandy perahara also known as The Frestival of the Tooth is a grand festival celebrated with elegent costumes  and is hled in july and augest in kandy, Sri Lanka.

The historical procession is held annualy to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, Which is housed at the Sri Dhalada Maligawa in kandy.

A unique symbol of Sri Lanka, the proccession consists of many traditional local dancees such as fire - dances, whip - dances, kandyan dances and vairous other cultural dances in addition to the elephants who are usally adorned with lavish gaements.

The Frestival ends with the traditional 'diya kapeema'  ritual, a water cutting ceromony which is hled at the Mahawali River at Gatabe, Kandy. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
